I’m an Australian journalist based in Turin, Italy, writing about food, sustainability and travel.
In 2014, I moved to Italy to study a Masters in Food Culture & Communications at the University of Gastronomic Sciences. It was a year-long program, but I’ve called Italy – specifically, Piedmont – home since.
I take my own photographs for stories, and my work’s been published in VICE MUNCHIES, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Guardian Australia, SBS Food, delicious. online, ABC Organic Gardener, Country Style, Broadsheet Sydney, Time Out Sydney, Modern Farmer, The Planthunter and ABC Radio National Online. I’m especially fond of writing about agriculture, producers and foodsmiths; honey, bees and beekeeping; foraging, plants and wild edibles; and, of course, all things Italy and Turin.
I’m a hotel reviewer for The Telegraph (UK); profile environmental and agricultural leaders for the ‘In Conversation’ column for ABC Organic Gardener magazine; contribute monthly stories on dining in Turin in both English and Italian (that I translate) to bilingual site Le strade di Torino; write the ‘Meet the producer’ series for the Fink Group of restaurants (owners of the award-winningg Bennelong, Quay, Otto and Firedoor in Sydney, Australia); and chronicle food producers around the world over at Roots & Co.
So, what can you find here? It’s an online portfolio, featuring my published writing and photography, plus a journal of sorts with pieces I put together just for this site – mainly, travel and dining tips from trips I’ve taken in my mini guides.
